Hello everybody! How are you all? I’m fine except that the holiday break is over, school has resumed (*sigh*), and I’m stressing myself out for no apparent reason. It’s the second Tuesday of the month, which means a new teaser from my current read, and a new Top Ten Tuesday topic! Let’s jump right in:
Welcome to Teaser Tuesday, hosted by Ambrosia @ The Purple Booker, the weekly Meme that wants you to add books to your TBR, or just share what you are currently reading. It is very easy to play along:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers! Everyone loves Teaser Tuesday.
Author: Steve Hamilton
Year Published: 2016
Summary: Nick Mason has already spent five years inside a maximum security prison when an offer comes that will grant his release twenty years early. He accepts — but the deal comes with a terrible price.
Now, back on the streets, Nick Mason has a new house, a new car, money to burn, and a beautiful roommate. He’s returned to society, but he’s still a prisoner. Whenever his cell phone rings, day or night, Nick must answer it and follow whatever order he is given. It’s the deal he made with Darius Cole, a criminal mastermind serving a double-life term who runs an empire from his prison cell.
Forced to commit increasingly more dangerous crimes, hunted by the relentless detective who put him behind bars, and desperate to go straight and rebuild his life with his daughter and ex-wife, Nick will ultimately have to risk everything—his family, his sanity, and even his life—to finally break free.
“This isn’t freedom. This is mobility. Don’t get those two things confused.”
‘Hi, this is my dad. He’s going to tell you how to steal a car.’
Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme started by The Broke and the Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.
Today’s topic is: Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019.
I’m guessing we’ll be doing a second version of this prompt later in the year, and I’m very excited about it! There are soooo many books coming out this year, and narrowing this list down to just ten, is not that easy. However, here is the (very) short list of books that I can’t wait to get my hands on this year.
*The Lovely and the Lost by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I am so very excited and cannot wait for another book to published by this AMAZING author! And the cover is so BEAUTIFUL!
Please excuse me while I go catch my breath. Release Date: May 7th 2019.
*Name Unknown by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
No surprise that the second book on the list is also by Jennifer! This book is going to be the sequel for her latest novel released in November 2018, Little White Lies. No name, cover, or release date yet, but she said ‘hopefully to be released soon!’ Release Date: That was last year, so hopefully sometime this year!
*Dear Ally: How do you write a book? by Ally Carter
I’ve been slacking with my manuscript for a while (
Lol, I’ve written only six pages), so this will hopefully help me get back into the habit. I’d love to learn tips and tricks from my favorite authors! Release Date: March 26th 2019.
*Finding Grace by K. L. Slaughter
I love the summary, and I’ve already added a bunch of other books by this author to my TBR. There’s always space for one more, amirite? Release Date: February 14th 2019.
*We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal
I wanted to read more diverse books as a goal for this year. I’m not a big reader of fantasy, but I’m going to take a step out of my comfort zone. I’ve decided to add this book to my TBR. Maybe I’ll like it, maybe I won’t. And, BTW, the cover is pretty. Release Date: May 14th 2019.
*Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus
So, I’m doing this the night before, and I just realized that it’s actually going to come out on the 8th, which is tomorrow a.k.a today. I’ve been wanting to read, One of Us is Lying, but I haven’t gotten the chance and I hope I can get to this one sooner. Release Date: January 8th 2019.
*Ninth and Nowhere by Jeffery Deaver
This book can help me tick off one of the prompts on the reading challenge that I’m taking part of. I like the idea behind the story and I’m excited to read this! Release Date: January 29th 2019.
*The Night Olivia Fell by Christina McDonald
I am SUPER excited for this book to finally come out next month! I’m waiting literally on the edge of my seat! The summary is exciting, and I just can’t wait! Release Date: (Too faraway in my opinion) February 5th 2019
*My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing
That. Summary. Release Date: March 26th 2019.
*The Au Pair by Emma Rous
I’m getting French vibes from the title, and I want to know what really did happen the day the twins were born. Release Date (YAY TODAY!): January 8th 2019.
And that’s it friends for this Tuesday! What books are you guys waiting for so badly? Do you think books that come out today count on this list? Let’s chat in the comments 💖!
