I Think Muslim Rep Is Important, But I Understand Why Some Muslims Don’t Want to Read It

The other day, I was recommending a book with Muslim representation to my sister and she said she wasn’t interested. My dad overheard and was really curious as to why she wouldn’t want to read Muslim rep when she’d read anything else out there.

It was kind of hard to explain. I know why she doesn’t like it, and I don’t blame her for not liking it, but I didn’t know how to explain that.

It’s just one of those things that you just get, you know?

Sigh. Yes, I know, you don’t really know, and that’s why I’m going to try and articulate what the problem is with Muslim-rep books out there.

Good morning, amigos!!! I hope you’ve all been having a great start to your week! Today I’ll be doing an update on all my bookish and not so bookish goals that I made at the start of the year. I’ll also be sharing what I’ve read for the 4 reading challenges that I’m doing.

To be honest, I’m pretty surprised with how well I did in some aspects, and of course, not so surprised that I failed in others. Lol, let’s get started!

Hey y’all!! Welcome back. Today, you get to torture treat yourself to this wonderfully long post talking about the awesome books that I’ve read so far this year.

You’ll also finally be getting an idea of what I’ve been reading since May. I think I’m just going to wait until my Monthly Wrap-Up for June to talk about every book since then, but a couple of the ones I mentioned are ones that I’ve read recently.
