Top Ten Tuesday – Things That Make Me Pick Up a Book

Welcome to the first TTT of April! I hope you are all having a fantastic day! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and The Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s topic is: Things That Make Me Pick Up a Book. There a lot of reasons why I would pick up a book, but here are 10 of the top reasons why!

*Amazing reviews. One of the main reasons why I pick up a book is because of amazing reviews, especially by reviewers that I like.

*Interesting summary. If the summary sounds like my cup of tea, I’m probably going to be picking it.

*Beautiful Covers. The saying is, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”, but I highly doubt anybody follows that advice anymore. If I see a beautiful cover, I’m definitely going to be interested in reading it!

*Hype. If a book is hyped, I usually read it about a few months or a year later to see what had everyone so excited.

*Recommendations. If any of my friends recommend me a book, I try my best to get a hold of it and to read it right away!

*Reading Challenges. Confession: I’m not really following my reading challenges anymore. But I want to change that! And to do so, I have to read books that fit the criteria for each prompt.

*Representation. I’m trying to expand my reading, and to do so, I’m interested in reading a lot of books that are full of diversity and representation.

*Food. This one is new. I’m trying to find a lot of good baking recipes, so I’d love any recommendations that you have for books with food or baked goods in them!

*Genre. If the book falls into one of my default genres, and the summary is interesting, I will probably read it.

*Boarding schools. I have a fascination with boarding schools and if a book is set in one, I’d definitely want to read it!

*Heists and spies. If a book has heists or spies, it’s automatically moved to the top of my TBR.

That’s it for this Tuesday! What makes you pick up a book? Share in the comments, or link to your TTT’s so that I can check them out!

Top Ten Tuesday – Underrated Books I Love

Hey hey hey! Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and The Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s topic is: Books I LOVED with Fewer than 2,000 Ratings on Goodreads (aka Underrated Books I Love)

So, a quick check of all the books that I love reveals that I have exactly two books that are under 2,000 ratings. That is a tiny number, so I’m gonna do:

Books I LOVED with Fewer than 6,000 Ratings on Goodreads. (It’s a big number compared to 2,000, but I’m working with what I’ve got.)

Let’s get started!

*Little White Lies by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. Ratings: 1,587 | Reviews: 400

*The Gift of the Magi by Ally Carter. Ratings: 1,628 | Reviews: 231

*Saints and Misfits by S.K. Ali. Ratings: 3,623 | Reviews: 902

*SYLO by D.J. MacHale. Ratings: 4,312 | Reviews: 668

*Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus. Ratings: 5,684 | Reviews: 1,368

Top Ten Tuesday – Top 10 Recent Additions to my TBR

Howdy folks and welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and The Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s prompt is: Top 10 Recent Additions to my TBR.

I’ve added so many books to my TBR lately, especially 2019 releases and I’m still adding. It’s about time I did a, What’s on my TBR? post, so here’s a tiny glimpse.

(This is in order of most recent to older):

*Post Mortem by Kate London. Can’t wait to start a new series!

*Silent Scream by Angela Marsons. Another series that I was just recently introduced to.

*Life or Death by Chris Merritt. Zoe @ Zooloo’s Book Diary recommended it to me and her review was superb. I’m super excited to read it.

*Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

*Dear Evan Hansen by Val Emmich. It’s a diverse book dealing with mental health, so I want to try it.

*The Girl in the Ice by Robert Bryndza. I love mysteries with female detectives as the main character, so this had to join the rest of my TBR.

*The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. This was recommended to me by a friend of mine.

*Where She Lies by Michael Scanlon. Another interesting mystery.

*A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews. What a beautiful cover!

*Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan. Another beautiful cover! And the summary sounds like it’s going to be lots of fun.

*All the Little Lies by Chris Curran. I’m not sure if I’m still going to read this, but it’s on my list anyway.

And that’s it for this Tuesday! What books are on your TBR? Let’s chat in the comments!

Top Ten Tuesday – Books that Didn’t Live Up to the Hype

Hi friends and welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and The Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s topic is: Books I Meant to Read in 2018 but Didn’t Get To

Honestly, this hasn’t really changed since I did my Winter TBR TTT some weeks ago, so I’m gonna do something else:

Books that Didn’t Live Up to the Hype.

Let’s get started!

*Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. This was such a disappointment. I had to DNF it because it was just so awful.

*Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. This book made me so mad for a lot of reasons. (ha, get it? OK, I know it’s a lame joke) There’s always a time when you hate a book everyone loves, amirite?

*The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall. I’ve heard a lot about this, and it just felt so unrealistic and flat.

*All Dressed in White by Mary Higgins Clark. Everybody says Ms. Clark is the Queen of Suspense, but this was not for me. RTC.

*The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I didn’t like the writing style so this ended up on my DNF list. But I want to try her other book, Into The Water.

*A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton. I didn’t really like Kinsey and she made a lot of stupid decisions throughout the book.
