The Three W’s are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Let’s get started!

All covers are from Goodreads

What I Just Finished:

I finished three books which is pretty good! So far, I’ve read 8 books this month, and I’m now only behind by 6 books on my reading challenge.

Before We Were Strangers is more of a romantic mystery novel that is heavy on the family drama/romance and pretty light on the mystery. Nothing really happened mystery-wise until the last half of the book, and that was kind of annoying. It all got wrapped up pretty quickly, and there wasn’t really any slow buildup to a shocking reveal.

The Wrath and The Dawn was a really sweet, really cute fantasy romance and I really liked it. The ending was pretty cliffhanger, and I dived into The Rose and the Dagger right away.

Guys. I cried. The Rose and the Dagger managed to make tears spill down my cheeks. A part of it was really heartbreaking, but the book in general was more amazing than the first. I really loved the politics, the wars, how the drama between Khalid and Tariq was resolved, and the epilogue was just darling.

What I’m Currently Reading:

I’m reading way too many books at the same time lol

Vengeful (55%): I finally got Vengeful!! I’m 264 pages in, and I’m really liking it! I also kind of like how the storyline is flipping back and forth, but it’s a bit hard to keep straight.

Escaping from Houdini (18%): I also started Escaping From Houdini, and so far so good.

Throne of Glass (10%): I started this yesterday and I am a bit annoyed at the excessive mention of Celaena being an assassin, but I will be patient and continue on.

Assassin’s Masque (7%): I started this one a few days ago, and I’m not super intrigued by it at the moment. So it’s been pushed to the back burner for now.

What I Plan To Read Next:

Next, I’m probably going to start The Book Thief and The Lovely and the Lost.

That’s it for this Wednesday. What are you reading? Have you read any of the books that I’m reading? What did you think? Let’s chat in the comments below! (Be sure to link to your WWW’s so that I can check them out!)

What I Just Finished:

I READ FIVE BOOKS!!!!! IN ONE WEEK!!! *runs off to squeal excitedly*

Palace of Spies and Dangerous Deceptions were good. It’s an easy spy mystery, and I liked the historical aspect. However, I didn’t really like Peggy, we barely know much about Matthew, and it felt rather meh. But it’s fun, fairly simple, and I still want to read the last book in the series.

Three Days Missing was very good, very suspenseful, and I was super nervous and couldn’t put the book down. I really could not. I finished it the same day I started because it was that addictive. Sadly, the moment the bad guy was introduced, I knew it right away and it turns out I was right.

I was given a copy of The Victim of the System by Reedsy for review, and it was good. I liked the plot, however, I didn’t really connect to the characters or to Ike. My review will be up on the 24th.

Girls Like Us is more like a novella, and I immensely enjoyed reading it. Quincy’s growth was amazing, and I loved Biddy. She was really sweet, and so generous and such a great friend. Honestly, I want to read more about them. The chapters were short, and I loved how it alternated between the two girls POVs. I really loved this one.

What I’m Currently Reading:

I’m just about to start both of these, so hopefully I’ll like them!

What I Plan To Read Next:

Next up, I’m probably gonna read A Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena.

That’s it for this Wednesday. What are you reading? Have you read any of the books above? What did you think? Let’s chat in the comments below! (Be sure to link to your WWW’s so that I can check them out!)

What I Just Finished:

I loved Audrey Rose and her relationship with Thomas, how it wasn’t perfect, and how she suffered from PTSD after the events of book 1. At first it was tedious, but once the new mystery began, it was much easier to read. Also, I love Daci! She’s a female version of Thomas and just as awesome! My review will be up…sometime in the future lol

With the Fire on High was so heartwarming, and not only because of Emoni’s love for cooking, but also because of how responsible, and yet still breakable she is. She doesn’t become a super mom nor does she just abandon Babygirl. She’s determined to do what’s best for Babygirl (I will not call her Emma…) while still following her heart and doing what she loves most with the support of Buela and her friends. She’s not perfect, and I loved that. The family dynamics, the characters, even the way the novel was written was really beautiful. I really liked this, and I would definitely recommend it!

What I’m Currently Reading:

I’m reading The Scarlet Letter for my American Literature class, and so far so good. I’ve read the first 4 chapters, and it’s interesting, so I want to know more.

I borrowed Palace of Spies because it’s a historical fiction novel, with spies, and I’ve been wanting to read something like that lately. I’m still at the beginning, and haven’t decided if I’m liking it or not, yet.

What I Plan To Read Next:

Next up, I’m going to read Girls Like Us and Three Days Missing.

What I Just Finished:

This was so much fun!! It was so much like Mulan and I loved it!! I loved the idea, I loved Edan, I loved Maia, and I really really want to know what happens next!! I also still liked Lady Sarnai despite everything. The only thing that confuses me is how Maia’s scissors work. It doesn’t make a lot of sense, but I still loved the book nonetheless.

What I’m Currently Reading:

Things have finally picked up in HPD and I’m so glad. Audrey and Thomas are so real, and I love how they’re going through troubles with their friendship just like normal people. And this mystery is great, though I’m disappointed that I can’t make any sense of it, and I have no idea who it could be.

What I Plan To Read Next:

My library copy has come in, so next up, I’m going to read With the Fire on High!

That’s it for this Wednesday. What are you reading? Did you like the Stalking Jack the Ripper series? Any recommendations for some of your favorite thrillers that you’d like to share? Let’s chat in the comments below! (Be sure to link to your WWW’s so that I can check them out!)

What I Just Finished:

This was one amazing 5 star read!! I loved it, and I was really sad, but satisfied by the way the book ended. I’m definitely going to try out some of Backman’s other books when I am in need of a heart-breaker!

What I’m Currently Reading:

I am currently reading both! Or more accurately, I’m reading Hunting Prince Dracula and I’m about to start Spin The Dawn

So far I’m 23% in, and I’m kind of bored with Hunting Prince Dracula. It’s tedious being in Audrey’s head because she seems to be repeating herself on every single page, with all her emotions, and her constant “I’m not going to let anyone belittle me for being a woman” monologue. It’s great, but I get it already-no need to repeat it about a hundred times.

But I’m hoping, now that there’s a second dead body, this is going to take a relative back-seat and maybe I’ll enjoy the mystery more!

What I Plan To Read Next:

Next up, I’m probably going to read With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo.
