Top Ten Tuesday – Favorite Covers

Welcome guys to Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and The Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s topic is actually: Outrageous/Crazy/Uncharacteristic Things I’ve Done for the Love of Books (i.e. skipped meals, camped outside a bookstore, broke up with someone because they don’t like to read, traveled long distances to bookish events, etc. – submitted by Aggie’s Amygdala).

I love this topic and I’m so excited to see what all of you fellow bookish friends have done for the love of books. However, I haven’t really done anything note-worthy, or outrageous, so I’ve dug up the dusty files of TTT’s history to find an old topic to do instead. I’ve decided today to do: My Top Five Favorite Covers.

Let’s get started!

*Into The Water by Paula Hawkins. I didn’t really like the cover of The Girl On the Train, but this is beautiful!

*Gimme Some Sugar by Molly Harper. Okay, the reason this made it’s way onto this list is because that cake looks delicious! Any book with food on the cover is beautiful!

*A Beautiful Corpse by Christi Daugherty. This may be called A Beautiful Corpse, but I think that it should be A Beautiful Cover. It’s so pretty in it’s own way.

*Blanca and Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore. I love the font and the swirls intersecting the other letters. I also love how the top is black bluish and the bottom more red and the white strokes in the middle. It looks like a pretty painting.

*The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black. I’m not necessarily eager to read this, unless The Wicked King proves to be exceptional, but that cover is BEAUTIFUL. I love the frozen ice and the crown, it’s just so pretty!

That’s it for this Tuesday! What outrageous things have you done for the love of books? What are some of your favorite book covers? Share in the comments or link to your TTT’s so I can check them out!

Top Ten Tuesday – Things That Make Me Pick Up a Book

Welcome to the first TTT of April! I hope you are all having a fantastic day! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and The Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s topic is: Things That Make Me Pick Up a Book. There a lot of reasons why I would pick up a book, but here are 10 of the top reasons why!

*Amazing reviews. One of the main reasons why I pick up a book is because of amazing reviews, especially by reviewers that I like.

*Interesting summary. If the summary sounds like my cup of tea, I’m probably going to be picking it.

*Beautiful Covers. The saying is, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”, but I highly doubt anybody follows that advice anymore. If I see a beautiful cover, I’m definitely going to be interested in reading it!

*Hype. If a book is hyped, I usually read it about a few months or a year later to see what had everyone so excited.

*Recommendations. If any of my friends recommend me a book, I try my best to get a hold of it and to read it right away!

*Reading Challenges. Confession: I’m not really following my reading challenges anymore. But I want to change that! And to do so, I have to read books that fit the criteria for each prompt.

*Representation. I’m trying to expand my reading, and to do so, I’m interested in reading a lot of books that are full of diversity and representation.

*Food. This one is new. I’m trying to find a lot of good baking recipes, so I’d love any recommendations that you have for books with food or baked goods in them!

*Genre. If the book falls into one of my default genres, and the summary is interesting, I will probably read it.

*Boarding schools. I have a fascination with boarding schools and if a book is set in one, I’d definitely want to read it!

*Heists and spies. If a book has heists or spies, it’s automatically moved to the top of my TBR.

That’s it for this Tuesday! What makes you pick up a book? Share in the comments, or link to your TTT’s so that I can check them out!

Top Ten Tuesday – Books On Hold and On My TBR

Hi friends, and welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! Today’s topic is: Books on My Spring 2019 TBR. I’m going to be honest, I don’t exactly have books on my TBR that I wanted to read in spring. I just add books and read them whenever I can possibly get to them. So, here are the books that I have on hold right now from the library, and the five newest additions to my TBR!

*Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. Another fantasy book that is on my TBR. The main reason why I got a hold on it was because of the insane amount of hype surrounding King of Scars. However, fantasy has been disappointing me lately, so I’m going to push this back.

*Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. I don’t remember what this was about, but I’ve had a hold on it for about forever! I really hope it comes in soon so that I can see why Previous Me decided to add it to my TBR.

*Watching You by Lisa Jewell. Some of you may remember that this book was on my Winter TBR (I think?) and on my most anticipated releases for December list. It’s March, and my hold still hasn’t come through. I might just have to buy this one or wait for a very longtime.

*I Found You by Lisa Jewell. The premise of this sounds interesting and I’m hoping that I’ll enjoy Watching You. If I do, I’ll definitely be reading this.

*In the Woods by Tara Woods. I want to read this after I finish Vicious and I can’t wait to do so! It has a lot of great reviews.

*Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone. I loved the summary and the reviews assure me that I’m probably going to love this.

*Before She Was Found by Heather Gudenkauf. I saw a great review of this and the premise sounds very interesting.

*Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte. Another fantasy book that I’m going to push back into my-not-important-TBR.

*It Ends With Her by Brianna Labuskes. This has FBI Agents, serial killers, and murders? Sign me right up!

*One Word Kill by Mark Lawrence. As you all know, I am not a Sci-fi person. However a good friend of mine on Goodreads has been recommending this to me for a while, so I’ve finally given in and added it to my TBR.

That’s it for this Tuesday! What books are on your Spring TBR? Do you like the new theme? Let’s chat in the comments below! (Be sure to link to your TTT’s so I can check them out!)

Top Ten Tuesday – Standalone Books That Need a Sequel

Hello and welcome back to another Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and The Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s topic is: Standalone Books That Need a Sequel

Because I don’t read that many standalone novels that have open endings, I’m going to do a mix of series and standalone novels that I think needed another book to properly wrap things up.

Let’s get started.

Images are from Goodreads | Links lead to their respective Goodreads pages (Two Can Keep a Secret leads to my review)

*The Fixer duology by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. There are two books in this series and I am absolutely devastated that there isn’t going to be a third. I need more Asher and Tess (and the ending of the second book is NOT enough), but apparently, I’m not going to get anymore any time soon.

*Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus. That ending left some questions that really need answers. I really hope there’s a second book that will clarify everything and make it all understandable.

*Sammy Keyes and the Kiss Goodbye by Wendelin Van Draanen. I love Sammy and I can never have enough of her and Marissa’s antics. I know there are 18 books in the series, but I still want more! (And am I the only one that didn’t like the last book?)

*Will Robie Series by David Baldacci. There are five books in the series, but I still want more. The ending of book five was pretty nice and I would like to know what happened to the characters after that.

A Top Ten Tuesday can have four answers, right?

Apparently, I don’t read that many books that have open endings or that need a sequel. What books made it on to your TTT’s? And do you agree with me about the ending of any of these? Let’s chat in the comments below! (Be sure to link to your TTT’s so that I can check them out!)

Top Ten Tuesday – 2019 Releases That I’m Still Waiting For

Bonjour and welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and The Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s topic is: Characters I’d Like To Switch Places With (submitted by Sara @ A Gingerly Review)

However, I’m feeling slightly rebellious today. So instead, I am going to do: 2019 Releases That I’m Still Waiting For

Let’s get started!

Links lead to Goodreads

*Her Father’s Secret by Sara Blaedel. Family drama, a dead father with secrets, and murders happening all over town. Perfect bedtime story, right? Release date: (Today) March 5th

*House on Fire by Bonnie Kistler. I am really really intrigued by that synopsis and I want to know what really happened. Release date: March 12th

*A Beautiful Corpse by Christi Daugherty. Isn’t that title creepy yet hauntingly interesting at the same time? Release date: March 12th

*My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing. The summary sounds interesting and I can probably wait three more weeks. Release date: March 26th

*The Girl Next Door by Phoebe Morgan. A picture perfect family that in reality isn’t that picture perfect? Sign me up! Release date: April 4th

*They All Fall Down by Rachel Howzell Hall. It sounds creepy, and full of secrets. I can probably not wait another month. Release date: April 9th

*The Lovely and the Lost by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I’m really excited for this because it is by my favorite author. Release date: May 7th

*Her Daughter’s Mother by Daniela Petrova. First of all, the cover is gorgeous. Second of all, the summary is interesting. Third of all, that should be enough to let you know that this needs to go to your TBR. Release date: June 18th

*Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle. Two women are missing. One ran away, the other looks like she’s come across foul play. I can’t wait for this one (I already have my theories on what’s going to happen, lol) Release date: June 25th

*The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee. I can’t wait until AUGUST to get this. I. Need. This. NOW. Release date: August 13th
