Let’s Talk Bookish – August 2020

Good morning friends! Welcome back. It’s finally time to share August’s topics and I’m pretty excited for them. Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme, hosted by me @ Eternity Books & Dani @ Literary Lion, where we discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts.

We’d love to hear any suggestions that you have for topics! It makes it more of a community discussion when you guys help choose what we talk about. Even if you don’t participate in LTB, we would still like to hear the topics that you would like to see!

August 7th: Should Reviewers Go “Easier” on Self-Published Authors? (Dani’s Topic)

Examples: When you’re reviewing self-published does it affect how harsh you are with your ratings? Do you think reviewers in general should critique self-published authors less than traditionally published authors? Do you think self-published authors should be held to the same standard as traditional publishing?

August 14th: Do You Use an Online Persona for Book Blogging? (suggested by Lydia @ Lydia Schoch)

Examples: Why Do (or Don’t) you Blog About Your Personal Life on your Bookish Blog? Are there certain things you share and others you do? To what extent, if any, do you try to separate your bookish online persona from what you do with the rest of your time? Do you think book blogs should focus on being book blogs and not veer into other territory?

You can choose whatever you’d like to discuss, talk about an LTB topic that you missed, or even consider it a day off! Your choice 🙂

August 28th: The Popularity of YA (suggested by Ruqs @ Many Things (Not Just) Bookish)

Examples: Should YA take up most of our reading (if it indeed does)? Do you like reading YA? Why or why not? What do you love/hate about YA books? What do you think is the most popular genre in YA and why? Why do you think YA books have such a big community as opposed to other books? Do you think YA transcends the age barrier?

You don’t have to answer every question under the examples. You don’t even have to answer any of them if you don’t want to, but I’ve decided to include them as a guideline if you are unsure what to post regarding the topic.

Is there something about books or the book blogging community that you want to discuss? Do you know any controversies going in the community right now? Is there something you don’t want to discuss personally, but would love to see other’s opinions about? Please share your ideas in this form, or you can use my Contact page!!
