let’s add some more blogs to your Reader! // my nominations for the 2020 Book Blogger Awards

It is time once again to nominate some lovely and amazing bloggers for this year’s Fourth Annual Book Blogger Awards!! *cue fanfare and confetti*

First of all, many many thanks to May @ Forever and Everly and Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricane Books for hosting these awards again this year! The amount of time and dedication that it takes to host this is unbelievable and I just want to take a moment to appreciate you guys!! Thank you for doing this for the community 💕

Now, a disclaimer: Just because you are not on this list DOES NOT mean that I don’t love or appreciate you and your blog. If I am following you, then I assure you, I really do love you and your blog. I couldn’t put you all in this, however, do keep an eye out on Saturday for a very special post 🙂

To see all the categories and rules, be sure to check out May’s post here.

Let’s get started!!

Just a quick note: since nominating a blogger again for an award that they previously won will put them in the Hall of Fame, I’m not going to be nominating any of last year’s winners except one. Instead, I’ll try to nominate some lesser known bloggers for these categories.

note: ✨ = small book blogger (under 500 followers)

Best Preteen/Teen Book Blogger

Ash @ Starlight Strands – She actually just started her new blog a few months ago, but I’m already in love with her blogging voice, aesthetic, and post ideas!! She’s such a lovely and unique blogger, and she actually gave me the motivation to do my reacting to my old writing series after she did her own post on that (it was such a unique and amazing post!!)

Aria @ Book Nook Bits – Aria is a gem and an amazing blogger!! I love reading her discussions, and all her posts in general, and I’m so so happy that she recently reached 100 followers!! Also, she loves historical fiction (so do I!!) and I always manage to find a new interesting book whenever I read her posts.

Best Adult Book Blogger

Meeghan @ Meeghan Reads – Meeghan is an absolutely lovely blogger who was incredibly kind and welcoming when I first started book blogging. Despite the fact that we don’t read that many similar books, she is still very special to me because of how we met ❤ Her blog is a wonderful space to find romance novels and fantasies, so if those are your favorites, definitely check her out!

Veronika & Sabrina @ Wordy and Whimsical – These two ladies are amazing and I love their blog! You can always be sure to find amazing and creative post ideas and discussions. They are also both super friendly and kind, and I really love chatting with them about books that we’ve read.

Best Mystery/Thriller Blogger:

Tessa Talks Books

Tessa @ Tessa Talks Books – Tessa is a wonderful blogger who reviews a lot of mysteries and thrillers. Honestly, just by visiting her blog, you can find several new books to read, and I love her reviews as well!

Nikki @ The Night is Dark and Full of Books – Nikki reviews and recommends several books from different genres, but I specifically love her thriller and mystery recommendations. It’s also amazing to be able to talk about a mystery with someone (not many people I know read the mysteries I’ve read), and she’s a wonderful and nice person.

Best Book Reviews

Noura @ The Perks of Being Noura – I love Noura’s reviews so much!! They are a fantastic way to find new and amazing books, and I love how they aren’t super long, but at the same time, they always manage to make me super excited to read the book!

Best Book Recommendations

✨ May @ My 1st Chapter – May is the sweetest, kindest, loveliest blogger ever and I love talking to her and reading all her recommendations!! I completely trust her reviews and she is an amazing artist as well! She did a Genre Deep Dive last September, and another recommendation post more recently (tho she has been on an unofficial hiatus since mid-April) both of which I absolutely loved! She’s just a really amazing person 🙂

Best Discussion Posts

Sophie @ Me & Ink – Sophie writes the most phenomenal discussions, it’s unbelievable. They can be serious, they can be light, they can be funny, but I assure you that they are always, always amazing. She’s currently on hiatus, but you should still 100% go read all her recent discussions. Trust me on this!

Chana & Malka @ Paper Procrastinators – I love their discussions so much!! They’re both so humorous, and I love talking to them about whatever topic in the comments. My favorite discussions so far are Chana’s post on separating art from the artist, and Malka’s post on blended families in books. They are both so phenomenal!

✨ Dani @ Literary Lion – Dani and I actually co-host Let’s Talk Bookish, which is a weekly discussion meme, so of course she writes amazing discussions!! I’m forever grateful that she reached out asking to help with LTB, and I seriously love her topics and discussions every time!

Best Blog Aesthetic

Cielo @ Bellerose Reads – Cielo’s blog is just so so beautiful. I love the soft tan and pink colors, her amazing profile picture (it’s just so so so pretty!!!), and all the graphics she uses! They’re so simple, but also so beautiful at the same time. And she does an amazing feature highlighting bloggers, her reviews are amazing, and she’s just an amazing blogger!

Most Supportive

Sofii @ A Book. A Thought. – Sofii leaves lovely comments, dedicates whole posts to appreciating bloggers every month, and goes out of her way to compile amazing lists of books. She’s just a really supportive and kind person overall!

Friendliest Member of the Community

Caitlin @ Caitlin Althea* – I just had to nominate her for this because Caitlin is so incredibly supportive, friendly, and amazing. She’s so so so amazing. Her discussions posts are the best, any of her posts in general are the best, and she’s so lovely and kind in the comments!! I love discussing our overwhelming WIPs and books that we are both excited to read or that we loved. Honestly, she makes me laugh every. time. and it’s always a delight to read her comments.

*Caitlin did win Best New Book Blogger last year, but I just had to nominate her for this award as well because she’s the first person that came to mind when I saw this category. She’s just so incredibly sweet and friendly!!

Blogger Books

Jane @ Blogger Books – I really love reading Jane’s posts and checking out some of her recipes. She’s also super kind which is why I love chatting with her in the comments even if I don’t know any of the books she’s talking about lol 😅

Best at Promoting Diverse Books

✨ Divine @ R E A (D) I V I N E – Divine is amazing at promoting diverse books, specifically with Asian representation! One of her posts that I recently discovered gives 4 reasons why and 20 recommendations for Japanese crime fiction, and I assure you that I am now going to be adding Japanese mysteries to my TBR. She also writes really insightful discussion posts that honestly have helped me rethink my relationship with books. Basically, she’s a phenomenal promoter of diverse books, an amazing discussion writer, a very lovely person, and you should go check her out!!

Best Overall Book Blogger

Kay @ Hammock of Books – Kay is such a lovely friend, and I love all her posts, especially her wrap-ups and discussions! She’s super friendly and kind, and it’s really nice to discuss bookish and baking things with her.

Kerys @ The Everlasting Library – Kerys has a beautifully unique blogging voice and I love it!! She’s so funny and sweet, and I love her reviews and creative posts. She has been kind of MIA recently, but her posts are still gems and I would suggest you check them out. I also love the purple aesthetic and the subtle sparkles on her blog, so that’s a plus lol.

To everyone who I didn’t mention here, I still love you and you’re getting your special post hopefully this weekend! I can’t wait for that, but it’s also going to be time consuming, so I hope I publish it in time instead of being totally Rukky and publishing it next year 😅

Anyways. Those are my nominations for this year’s Book Blogger Awards! I hope you all check out these lovely bloggers even if they don’t win, because I’m here to add more books to your TBR and more bloggers to your Reader. Trust me; you won’t be disappointed!

  3. Thank you so much for nominating us, you’ve made me so happy! 🥰 I’m working on my award post, and it’s been so damn hard to narrow it down and try to push everyone I love into at least one category. I adore quite a few of your nominations, and I’ll make sure to save this post and check out the rest later on. They all sound wonderful! 🥰

  5. I LOVE YOU, RUKKY!!! 😭😭😭💗💗 Thank you so much for nominating me!! (Though I don’t think you could’ve nominated me for best new blogger anyway because my blog is a year and a half old already hahaha)
I love so many of these bloggers too, and I’m so excited to see how the awards pan out this year!! I’ll most definitely be writing my own nominations post, but I don’t even know where to begin 😭😭 There are so many people I’ve interacted with that I want to give a mention, and I don’t even know where to begin putting them into categories ahhh it’s fine we are fine

    1. You 100% deserve it!! 💖✨❤ (Haha, time flies so fast!! It feels like I started just a couple months ago but it’s been over a year and a half! And well, I just wasn’t going to nominate any of last year’s winner in any category even if it’s different from the one that they won in, but of course, you were the exception to that 💖)

Aww haha, it’ll be okay! I kind of wish that there was a 2nd and 3rd place, as well as like honorable mentions or something (but that is a lot of work too so I totally understand why there isn’t) so that it’s not really limited to just 1 person in each category (except for overall). But, this idea is genius and amazing nonetheless because it brings so much happiness and helps promote others! I hope you’re able to narrow it down 🥺

    1. Aww, no problem Aria 💕 I hope you win!! Yes, they are really such a great way to discover new blogs, and also just to make someone’s day. For me, it’s not really about winning the award (even tho I wouldn’t mind lol) but it’s about the fact that the blogger thought of nominating me for it in the first place. That’s just so special and I love that 💕✨
Haha, I know right!! Have you read Code Name Helene? I feel like I’ve already recommended it to you…but I’m not sure lol 😌🤦🏾‍♀️

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Yeah, that a blogger thought of nominating in the first place is so special 💗You recommended Code Name Helene to me, and I placed a hold on it at my library. Apparently it’s so popular that 11 other people already placed holds on it, so hopefully I’ll get to read it someday soon… it looks so amazing though, and I can’t wait to read it 🙂
