Let’s Talk Bookish | May 2020

I’m still alive!!

Yes, I know, I’ve disappeared, and I’m so behind. My good streak in March and the beginning of April has been ruined, and that’s so frustrating. The amount of things I have to catch up on is cry-worthy.

But I am here now, and finally with this month’s topics!

But first: I’m probably going to still be kind of hiatus-y for a good portion of May as well. Because you know, end of school, tests, and then there’s Ramadan. So I’ll still probably do the discussions, but I probably won’t post anything else.

Just a heads up.

And now, for the actual post:

Welcome back, my friends!! Today is Friday, May 1st, however, you’re getting a day off because i’m a mess and forgot to post this earlier I’m so kind to keep it 4 discussions this month instead of 5! You’re welcome 😀

But in all seriousness, it’s good to be finally posting this.

If you’re new, welcome! It’s great to have you here. Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme, created by me @ Eternity Books, where we discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts.

I’ve got one major announcement, and then you’ll be seeing this month’s topics and the link to the google form where you can suggest topics for the upcoming months. Please fill it out if you have any ideas!!

So the announcement:

We have a new host!!! Everybody, please join me in giving a warm welcome to Dani @ Literary Lion!! Dani has been such a faithful participant of LTB and I love reading her discussions. She recently reached out asking if I needed any help with running LTB, and well, yes! I’m so excited to be working with her on this!

Hopefully, between the two of us, we can keep things on track and maybe change some things to make this meme even better. I am so so excited!!

I’d like to thank Ruqs @ Many Things Bookish & Evelyn @ Evelyn Reads for suggesting topics! We really appreciate it! If you’d like to suggest a topic, don’t hesitate to fill out the form below.

May 8th: What Makes a Good Villain? (Dani @ Literary Lion)

Examples: Who is your favorite villain? Do you prefer ones with a tragic backstory or ones who are just plain evil? Villains who have realistic goals and motivations or who want to take over the world? Do you like seeing them redeemed or should the story end with them dead?

May 15th: Should We Read More Serious Books? (suggested by Ruqs @ Many Things Bookish)

Examples: As a result of COVID-19, do you think we should read more serious books (nonfiction, biographies etc)? Do you normally read “serious books”? What are some of your nonfiction book suggestions that we can learn from during self-isolation?

May 22nd: Blogging 101: How to Write Your Favorite Post

Examples: What’s your favorite kind of post to write? Why? How do you write it? Give your tips and tricks that you think helps make your post awesome, and that could help guide beginning bloggers. You can also share what’s your favorite aspect of other people’s versions of your favorite post type. (Ex. I like writing discussions, and the aspect that I love most about Blogger @ Blog’s discussions is:…)

Note: I know it’s a non-traditional topic, however, as I mentioned a few months back, I want to include some blogging related discussions as well, not just bookish ones…which is kind of contrary since it’s called Let’s Talk Bookish but you know. Just bear with me lol

May 29th: Subscription Boxes (suggested by Evelyn @ Evelyn Reads)

Examples: Do you get subscription boxes? If so, from who? Do you think that they are worth it? Which subscription box would you recommend? What are some of your favorite books and items that you received through them?

You don’t have to answer every question under the examples. You don’t even have to answer any of them if you don’t want to, but I’ve decided to include them as a guideline if you are unsure what to post regarding the topic.

Is there something about books or the book blogging community that you want to discuss? Do you know any controversies going in the community right now? Is there something you don’t want to discuss personally, but would love to see other’s opinions about? Please share your ideas in the form below, or you can use my Contact page!!

That’s it for this month’s topics! I hope you’re as excited for them as I am! Again, thank you so much to Dani for helping out, and you all can definitely look forward to some awesomeness in the coming months!!

How are you guys doing? Do you like this month’s topics? Do you have any suggestions? Am I the only one swamped by exams right now? Chat with me in the comments below!!
