Reading Update | April 9th

Hey there friends! Welcome back! Today, I’m going to be sharing an update on my reading since my last update post on the 22nd of March.

I’ll be doing this like a WWW Wednesday (which is hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words): I’ll talk about what I’ve read, what I’m reading, and what’s coming up next. I’ll also share my progress on my reading challenges.

Let’s get started!

What I’ve Finished:

2020 Historical Fiction RC = ⏳ | YARC = 🍚 | Unapologetically Muslim RC* = β˜ͺ

2020 Cloak & Dagger RC = πŸ” | E-book = πŸ“± | Hardcover = πŸ“• | For Review = ⏱

The Fairy-Tale Detectives (The Sisters Grimm #1) by Michael Buckley – πŸ“± – 4 stars | This was actually really great. I wasn’t expecting to like it, so it was a pleasant surprise. Had a good laugh too lol.

Miracle Creek by Angie Kim – 🍚 πŸ” πŸ“± – 4.5 stars | I loved the courtroom drama, the mystery, the secrets, and how every small insignificant act resulted in this awesome roller-coaster!! Though I guessed who it was, so that was kind of disappointing, but it was still pretty good.

Deceptive Waters by Carolyn Courtney Lauman – πŸ” πŸ“± ⏱ – 2.5 stars | This was okay. There were aspects that I didn’t like, but the mystery was very interesting which kept me going. You can read my review (the link) to hear my full thoughts.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians Series by Rick Riordan – πŸ” πŸ“± – 4 stars | I’ve read the first three books and they’re really enjoyable. Honestly, I don’t know why I always ran away from middle grade. It’s so relaxing and funny, and definitely not as exhausting as Adult or YA.

Currently Reading:

The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson – πŸ” πŸ“± | So far so good. I’m about 35% in and I’m buddy reading it with the lovely Caitlin @ Caitlin Althea. However, it’s due in 2 days, so I’ve got to get reading.

The Whisper Man by Alex North – πŸ” πŸ“± | I actually just started this yesterday, and it is also due in 2 days, so I’m probably not going to finish it. I might, but I don’t know yet.

The Color of Bee Larkham’s Murder by Sarah J. Harris – πŸ” πŸ“— | I still have made 0 progress on this book. It’s until it’s due that I’ll finally read it smh. And since my library is closed, I can keep it until they reopen which is probably going to be no time soon. I’m going to try and read it all in one go this weekend anyway, so hopefully that will happen.

Up Next:

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch – πŸ” πŸ“± – Due April 21

Scavenge The Stars by Tara Sim – 🍚 πŸ“± – Due April 27

The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson – πŸ” πŸ“± – Due April 27

Thorn by Intisar Khanani – 🍚 β˜ͺ πŸ“± – Due April 30

Reading Challenge Update:

*I’m going to be signing up for the Unapologetically Muslim Reading Challenge this Sunday probably, but I’m already adding books to read for it on my TBR.

  • YARC: 7 out of 20
  • 2020 HistFic: 1 out of 10
  • 2020 Cloak & Dagger: 5 out of 35 (I’m counting Percy Jackson as Mystery)
  • GoodReads: 24 out of 110
  • 2020 Unapologetically Muslim: 0

So, I’ve read +1 books for YARC, +0 for HistFic, +5 for Cloak & Dagger, +6 for GR, and so far 0 for Unapologetically Muslim.

I guess it’s not bad. I’m making some progress at least, and I’m now only 5 books behind on my GR challenge. So, YAY me!

What are you reading? How many reading challenges are you taking part in? Have you read any of these? What did you think? What’s your favorite Percy Jackson book? Chat with me in the comments below!!

  1. ahhhh, thank you for calling me lovely. But *you’re* the lovely (and legendary πŸ˜‰) one here! lol i’m a mess disguised as a human: i’m only about 35% into the well of ascension. I decided to use it for the “read a book only when it’s dark outside” prompt in the OWLs readathon, and I didn’t realize how many things I do at night that aren’t reading until now. But I’m so happy that you enjoyed Miracle Creek! It sounds so good! I hope you’re enjoying The Hero of Ages too ❀ ❀

    1. I’m so happy too!! Lol, I didn’t know the why, but the who wasn’t too hard if you’re looking for who the author isn’t totally focusing on πŸ˜€

I had Ascension and I was at 91%!!!! and then it got returned 😭😭 At least I got through the major stuff, but it’s Sanderson so there’s obviously another twist coming at the end that I’m gonna miss

Haha, okay, I’m pretty excited! Especially with how everything went in Ascension.

      Hope you are too ❀✨
