WWW Wednesday #39

Welcome back! I hope you are having a great day! It is time for my weekly reading update, WWW Wednesday. WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words.

The Three W’s are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

I missed last week’s post, so I’m going to combine last week’s and this week’s WWW Wednesday’s together.

Let’s get started!

All covers are from Goodreads

What I Just Finished:

Crooked Kingdom: I’m so happy everything turned out okay except for you know what. Why Bardugo? Why? That was pretty heartbreaking, and just awful. But I’m glad that everyone got what they wanted at the end. You can check out my possibly spoilery non-official review on GR. (Read: Nov 20)

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill was kind of disappointing. I was just left with a sense of wanting more. However, the story was pretty good. It wasn’t remarkable or anything, and it did try to cover too many subplots all at once without properly doing just one, but it was still a fun read. (Read: Nov 23)

The Long Game was amazing, and I loved all the twists. Even though this was my 3rd reread, I was still surprised and absolutely enjoyed reading this all over again. Asher, Tess, Vivvie, and Henry, they are all amazing characters. (Read: Nov 25)

That was a surprise. Crown of Midnight was so so so much better than Throne of Glass and I’m surprised. I didn’t expect this at all, and I loved how it showed more of Celaena’s assassin side, rather than just telling us how amazing she is. But I wish this mess with Chaol never happened. He doesn’t really deserve this. (Read: Dec 1)

I finished The Gilded Wolves last night, and even though I can see why it gets compared to SoC, I think it’s different in it’s own way. I really liked Zofia and Enrique, and eventually Hypnos (he’s very hard to not like), and Tristan reminded me so much of Wylan and I loved it. The heists are spectacular, and I loved how Chokshi incorporated history and math into it. It made it so much more fun to solve. (Read: Dec 3)

What I’m Currently Reading:

I’m currently reading Hungry Hearts, and I’ll be starting The Lines We Cross hopefully later today.

What I Plan To Read Next:

Next up is The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, and Lock Every Door by Riley Sager.

Chat with me

That’s it for this Wednesday. What are you reading? Have you read The Gilded Wolves? Do you think it’s really similar to Six of Crows? Have you read any of the books above? Let’s chat in the comments below! (Be sure to link to your WWW’s so that I can check them out!)

  1. Lovely WWW post! Your blog is so beautiful, I can’t believe I’m only stumbling upon it now! ❤ YESSSS Crown of Midnight is amazing and I agree that it's so much better than Throne of Glass. It's probably my favourite book in the series! 😄 It looks like you have some great books ahead of you! I hope the rest of your week is full of very happy reading!

    1. Thank you so much Octavia 💚 Aww, that means so so much to me, thank you!!!
Yeah, ToG was so disappointing, and then CoM was 😍 and hopefully the series doesn’t go downhill from here lol. Thank you darling, and I hope you have a wonderful reading week as well 💖

      1. Of course! You have a beautiful blog! 😍
For me, the rest of the ToG series had its ups and downs, but it was overall pretty good!
I hope you enjoy the next books! ❤

  3. Oh my! I thought you were about to spoil Crooked Kingdom for me in your post and then when I was about to comment that I saw your spoiler-filled comment. I almost read it, my eyes went down the comment! You scared me there. I already wanted to read it this month but now this made me REALLY think I should read it. I’m lucky I haven’t been spoiled so far but I’m guessing that luck is about to run out soon haha. Great post and I love your floral/green theme. Happy reading! 🙂

    1. Lol 😂😂 Sorry I scared you. Generally, I don’t post spoilers in the post, unless I’ve said so at the beginning and I’ll probably mention it in bold italicized headings just to be extra sure you notice lol. But yeah, inevitably, there might be a spoiler in the comment section, so I always put a header at the beginning of the comment so that someone else won’t get…spoiled? Lol, idk.
Haha, that’s happened to me before: I’m already skimming the comment before the spoiler warning sinks in.
Oh yes, it’s definitely a lot of fun, and I loved it. Honestly, Kaz and the crew are just amazing and the heists in this are one of the best that I’ve read in a while. There are so many twists, it’s nerve-wracking 😓 (the good kind though) I’d love to hear your thoughts whenever you read it!!
Thank you 😍 That means so much to me. I’m so glad you love it 💚💖

    1. *SPOILERS for Crooked Kingdom*

I mean, (character X) could have lived and it would have been fine. There was no reason for them to die. I was so shocked, and honestly I just want to go back in time and have someone re-write that ending.

Yup, both books were definitely really enjoyable, and I loved the heists and team. The heists in this book were much more than in SoC and I loved that ❤ And Colm joining them (even if it was for a short while) was really sweet. But then, X died and the ending was rather bittersweet.

      1. Exactly! Out of all the characters who could have died, X was the most pointless one. I thought one of the main characters dying wasn’t a horrible idea, but the choice of character and the way it was done was ridiculous. I love heist books too, and besides that ending, I really enjoyed these two books!

        1. Agreed, X was the easiest one to eliminate with minimal damage. It’s still quite a bit of damage especially for those who really loved X, but not as much as if someone else had died. I’m glad that ending didn’t ruin the whole thing for you 💚
What are some of your favorite heist books?

          1. My favorite heist books…when I was younger it was The Mysterious Benedict Society. Another great one is The Thief Lord. I think The Hobbit is considered a heist book too…anyway, there are a lot of great heist books out there.

  4. You read quite a lot! I love mistborn, I hope you will as well!
I can see the comparison between gilded wolves and SoC, but they are quite different I would say! I love both!
    Enjoy your reading!
