Monthly Wrap-Up: November 2019

Good morning! I hope you had an amazing weekend! Today, I’m going to be doing my monthly wrap-up for November of 2019.

It’s unbelievable how fast the year has gone by. I mean there are literally 29 days left of 2019! A new decade is about to start!! Please tell me I’m not the only one absolutely anxious, scared, and excited about this!!!

November was an interesting month. I got the last week off of school, so that was great, but all my plans for blogging and reading…didn’t happen unfortunately. The beginning of the month was great and I was super excited, but then it kind of dipped from there.

I read 7 books, which is a bit of a disappointment since I read 13 books last month. I’ve got to read 14 books by the end of the year to reach my goal of 100. I’m not sure if I’ll make it, but hopefully I will. I did read some of the books on my Nov TBR, but not all, and I didn’t write a review for any of them lol. However, the links lead to my unofficial thoughts on Goodreads.

I also did 2 official reviews. I have so many backlogged reviews that I honestly need to write, but don’t feel like it. Maybe I’ll do more in December? or probably I’ll just wait and really start writing them in the upcoming decade 😉

Anything Else?

I had the whole of the previous week off, and I didn’t write/draft any extra posts. I’m really disappointed. I had a horrible migraine one day and then I went out some other days, and I just didn’t get anything done. I’d been planning all month, I was pretty excited, and it didn’t happen. Oh well.

I’ve been thinking about doing some different and hopefully interesting posts including a book recommendation post so if that’s something you’d like to see let me know in the comments!

I also still haven’t posted the LTB topics for this month, but I’m going to try and post them tomorrow. Sorry!

That’s A Wrap!

In the end, I read 7 books, did 2 reviews, 2 tags, and 5 LTB discussion posts. 6 of the books were 4 or 5 stars, so that’s amazing. I only met my goal of writing at least 3 discussion posts that I set for November, so hopefully I’ll do better this month.

My goals for this month are to read 14 books (at least 10), do 4 or 5 tags, 3 reviews, and 4 LTB posts.

  3. I relate to you SO much! I really cannot believe that we’re in the last month of the decade (!!). Also, I’m on school break right now, and I hate myself because I’ve been majorly unproductive so far, and I haven’t written any posts in advance. Oh, and don’t worry about only reading 7 books in November. I only read 4, because of how intense school was :(( Also, thank you so, so much for mentioning my post 💚💚 I really love Vicky’s post as well, and I try and live by it!

    1. I know! 2020 seems like something that should happen in another 300 years, not in 26 days!! Haha, well, it is a school break, so you should rest some, but yeah I hate that feeling too. It’s during school time that I feel super motivated to write, and the second I get a break, I get super lazy. But good luck, and I hope you’re able to write some 💖 Aww, the more reason why you should have as much fun with this break as possible!! Hopefully maybe you’ll at least get more reading done!
      You’re welcome, I loved reading it 😍 Yup, Vicky’s post was really interesting and actually surprised me (I never realized that SoC was problematic…that was such a shock..) but I love how she dealt with it and gave so many helpful suggestions 💚

      1. Thank you so much, Rukky 💚 Actually, I don’t think SoC is problematic problematic. It has a lot of accurate rep that a lot of people see themselves in. Though at the same time, some people find the rep in it offensive. That’s what makes “problematic” books so fascinating to me—some people don’t find them problematic at all, and books with good rep can also have harmful rep.

        I’m East Asian, and personally I didn’t find SoC offensive. I also don’t consider the whole thing with Kuwei and Wylan as yellow face. But Vicky’s post really opened my eyes to the fact that there *are* people who find it harmful, & I have to respect their opinion even though I don’t agree with them. I try not to treat SoC as the paragon of diversity anymore, and I try to recommend other books that aren’t SoC on my blog! Like Vicky said, books like SoC only deserve a small minus and a small plus. At least that’s how I see it, haha 😅

        1. Exactly, some people are horribly offended, but others aren’t and it makes things tricky. How can we call a book problematic if only some people find the rep harmful? Technically, that means most books are problematic, especially the ones with different reps because there’s bound to be at least one or two people who are offended by the rep. Is it only considered problematic if there’s a strong majority that finds the rep harmful or wrong?

          That’s good to know, and I’ll probably calm down with my constant recommending of SoC as well. It has some great rep, but I don’t want to be recommending to every single person, if some people might find it offensive. I agree, and it’s kind of how I’m seeing it too 💖

          This is probably going to make me a whole lot more aware as I’m reading lol

  9. Yes! I’d love recommendation posts. Since our reading tastes are similar, I think I’ll pick up some good books 💁‍♀️💜

    I read 7 books this month, but all in the last week because of exams this whole month. Hopefully December will be more productive bookish-wise 😄.
