Welcome to the first TTT of April! I hope you are all having a fantastic day! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and The Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.
Today’s topic is: Things That Make Me Pick Up a Book. There a lot of reasons why I would pick up a book, but here are 10 of the top reasons why!
*Amazing reviews. One of the main reasons why I pick up a book is because of amazing reviews, especially by reviewers that I like.
*Interesting summary. If the summary sounds like my cup of tea, I’m probably going to be picking it.
*Beautiful Covers. The saying is, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”, but I highly doubt anybody follows that advice anymore. If I see a beautiful cover, I’m definitely going to be interested in reading it!
*Hype. If a book is hyped, I usually read it about a few months or a year later to see what had everyone so excited.
*Recommendations. If any of my friends recommend me a book, I try my best to get a hold of it and to read it right away!
*Reading Challenges. Confession: I’m not really following my reading challenges anymore. But I want to change that! And to do so, I have to read books that fit the criteria for each prompt.
*Representation. I’m trying to expand my reading, and to do so, I’m interested in reading a lot of books that are full of diversity and representation.
*Food. This one is new. I’m trying to find a lot of good baking recipes, so I’d love any recommendations that you have for books with food or baked goods in them!
*Genre. If the book falls into one of my default genres, and the summary is interesting, I will probably read it.
*Boarding schools. I have a fascination with boarding schools and if a book is set in one, I’d definitely want to read it!
*Heists and spies. If a book has heists or spies, it’s automatically moved to the top of my TBR.
That’s it for this Tuesday! What makes you pick up a book? Share in the comments, or link to your TTT’s so that I can check them out!
Great list! And I’m totally with you, I love a good heist book 😀

I love reading challenges because they help me pick up books I might not have otherwise. I rarely actually finish the challenges, but they almost always help me expand my reading horizons.
Happy TTT!

Yes! That’s why I originally started them, but I’m not exactly keeping up and I hope to change that. Happy TTT to you too!

I tend to react the same way to hyped books. 🙂
