Top Ten Tuesday – Books that Didn’t Live Up to the Hype

Hi friends and welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and The Bookish, and is now hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s topic is: Books I Meant to Read in 2018 but Didn’t Get To

Honestly, this hasn’t really changed since I did my Winter TBR TTT some weeks ago, so I’m gonna do something else:

Books that Didn’t Live Up to the Hype.

Let’s get started!

*Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. This was such a disappointment. I had to DNF it because it was just so awful.

*Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. This book made me so mad for a lot of reasons. (ha, get it? OK, I know it’s a lame joke) There’s always a time when you hate a book everyone loves, amirite?

*The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall. I’ve heard a lot about this, and it just felt so unrealistic and flat.

*All Dressed in White by Mary Higgins Clark. Everybody says Ms. Clark is the Queen of Suspense, but this was not for me. RTC.

*The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I didn’t like the writing style so this ended up on my DNF list. But I want to try her other book, Into The Water.

*A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton. I didn’t really like Kinsey and she made a lot of stupid decisions throughout the book.

What books just didn’t live up to the hype, for you? Let’s Chat in the comments!

  1. 13 reasons why was not good. The first time I read it I was around eleven and I thought it was the best book ever but then I reread it before the show came out and … I have no idea what I saw in it lol

I really enjoyed Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train though (I was about to DNF both when I first read them because the first 100 pages of mystery books, I will admit, are a struggle and a pain to get through but then it was so worth it)

This is a great post by the way!

    1. Glad to know that we agree on 13RW! Not everyone likes the same books and I’m glad you enjoyed Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train. Thank’s for stopping by! 💖
