Tag Thursday – Unpopular Opinion Book Tag

Hi friends! Welcome to another Tag Thursday. I found today’s tag @ The Book Nut. Considering that fact that I read a lot of popular books and sometimes hate them, I thought this would be a perfect tag to do.

*A popular book you didn’t like:

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. I absolutely hate that book and there is no reason for me to write a review, because everyone else has already ranted about the book for me.

*A book series that everyone hates but you love:

I don’t think I love a series that everyone else hates 😃

*A love triangle where the MC ends up with the person you didn’t want them to end up with:

The Gilded Cage by Lucinda Gray. I hated both characters because I didn’t even know them and didn’t want her to end up with either of them.

*A popular genre you rarely reach for:

Fantasy. Everybody in the bookish world seems to love fantasy and I don’t.

*A popular character you didn’t like:

Hannah from Thirteen Reasons Why. Again.

*A popular author you can’t seem to get into:

J. K. Rowling. I don’t like fantasy and I haven’t read Harry Potter even though I’ve heard A LOT about it.

*A popular trope you’re tired of seeing:

Insta-love and love triangles. I think everyone can agree on this one.

*A popular series you have no interest in reading:

Harry Potter.

*The saying goes “the book is always better than the movie” but what movie do you prefer to the book?

All the book-to-movie adaptations I’ve watched are so unbearably terrible. I read Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson and I watched the movie, but I think they were both fairly okay. If anything, the book was slightly better.

And that’s it for this Thursday! I tag*:

Kim @ Read with Kim, Ella @ Ella’s Book Corner, Kym @ Hey Kymmie, Ashley @ Bubbly Booknerd, Kay @ Hammock of Books, Jenn @ Jenniely, and anyone else who wants to do it!

*Note: No pressure. If you don’t want to do it, you don’t have to! 😃💖

  1. Omg akdnaodnsidbw I will defend Harry Potter with my last dying breath my bae ❤️ I haven’t read Thirteen Reasons Why but I’ve heard really problematic things about it so I really don’t want to. Thanks for the tag ❤️❤️

    1. You’re welcome! LOL, you can defend him, but I’m not going to fight you 💖 And I’m not going to recommend 13RW. There are so many issues with it, for one, it glamorizes suicide, and then Hannah tortured Clay, she acted so selfish, ARGH…I’m so angry about it. Don’t read it, please!

  2. Hey you! Thanks for the tag ❤ First of all, I am so shocked to find Harry Potter on this list – I meant that in a good way. I loved the series as a kid and so it holds a special place in my heart. But I don't regard it as the best book ever. It's definitely one of those books that's hard to criticize openly just because everyone loves it.

Also, I must say that my love for J.K. Rowling is no longer the same. Fantastic Beasts is just BLEH to me and I really think she needs to move on from that universe. It's getting very old, very fast 😐
